Concrete Resurfacing
- Preparing the existing surface: The existing concrete surface is thoroughly cleaned and any damaged or deteriorated areas are repaired. This may include filling in cracks, repairing holes, and removing any loose or flaking material.
- Applying a bonding agent: A bonding agent is applied to the surface of the existing concrete. This helps the new layer of concrete adhere to the old surface and prevents delamination or separation of the layers.
- Mixing the concrete overlay: The concrete overlay is mixed with water according to the manufacturer's instructions. Depending on the desired texture and finish, additives such as color pigments, aggregates, and polymers may be added to the mix.
- Pouring and spreading the overlay: The concrete overlay is poured onto the existing concrete surface and spread evenly with a trowel or other tool. The thickness of the overlay will depend on the condition of the existing concrete and the desired final appearance.
- Texturing the surface: Once the overlay is applied, it is textured to create the desired appearance. This may involve using stamping tools, stencils, or other techniques to create patterns, designs, or textures.
- Curing the overlay: The overlay is left to cure for a period of time, typically several days. During this time, it is important to keep the surface moist and protected from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to ensure proper curing.
- Sealing the surface: Once the overlay is fully cured, a sealer is applied to protect the surface and enhance its appearance. The sealer may be a clear, gloss or matte finish, depending on the desired final appearance.
